    Children’s Memorial Research Center is a virtual center for research conducted by its investigators, regardless of their physical location at Children’s Memorial, the Feinberg School or the community.

  • Our research is organized around themes of clinical importance:

    Child health and pediatric diseases;
    Cancer;
    Development;
    Genetics;
    Neuroscience.

    As we strive to integrate the vast body of knowledge that exists institution-wide around these research themes, we draw upon the following components:

    Clinical departments and divisions: “Bedside” research makes use of clinical data, observations, drug and device trials, surveys and other measures to inform clinical care and develop hypotheses about disease processes.

    Research programs: “Bench” research employs animal, cell, molecular and computer models to test hypotheses that must be refined before being introduced to the clinic.

    Centers of excellence: Integrating “bedside” and “bench” research, centers form around specific health issues and draw upon interdisciplinary teams to ask questions and solve problems.

    Clinicians and bench researchers join programs and/or centers that facilitate their research. In order to address clinically relevant questions and obtain critical information, these research investigators frequently form teams and pursue projects with faculty from multiple departments, divisions, programs and centers — all focused on the common goal of advancing pediatric health care.
